White Fence Farm, The Farmhouse
3BR Vacation Rental House just 15 Minutes from Downtown Boone
“It's like renting your own private nature preserve.”
This quaint 3 bedroom farmhouse is located at the end of a short gravel road. The farm is just 15 minutes from downtown Boone, home of Appalachian State University. While the farm is easily accessed off Highway 421, it is completely private, and the only sounds to be heard are the chirping of frogs and the wind blowing through the trees.
the land
The farmhouse is on 105 private acres, and it is a pristine mountain ‘bowl,’ offering stunning views in all directions. You’ll even find hiking and 4-wheeler trails on site! The property offers a beautiful, unique, and peaceful hideaway. The farm is surrounded by pasture land and cattle, colorful wildflowers, several creeks, a fish pond, and a functional barn and stage for entertaining (previous home to the ‘Trade Music Farm’). The farmhouse and grounds are decorated with old farm antiques bringing you back to the early 1900’s where things were simple and serene.
explore the area
The area offers a variety of activities to keep you busy. If antiquing is a passion, this stretch of Hwy 421 is just the place to find great deals and amazing “picks,” or you can stroll through the shops and small boutiques in downtown Boone and Blowing Rock. Enjoy golf? The farm is only 10 minutes from Red Tail Golf Course!
Winter tourists can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the area, as well as snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and sledding right on our property. Warmer weather visitors can venture out for white water trips, float down the New River or take a long bike ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail. Zip-lining is just a few minutes away, too. Whatever your passion, your stay at White Fence Farm will be filled with relaxation, natural beauty, and the nostalgia of rustic, country living.

A few of our favorite reviews:
Great time had by our whole family. Wonderful experience for all. Our four year-old loved the kids’ upstairs bedroom, toys, and exploring the property. We loved hanging out on the porch and seeing the vintage items in the house. Can’t wait to do this again next summer!
Simply put, this place was a slice of heaven. Tranquil, welcoming, comfortable. The farmhouse was simple, rustic, perfect for anyone looking to get away. There was no cellular service available which was another welcomed reason to disconnect. The grounds were impeccable, inviting and oh-so-spacious. I visited at the peak of the leaves changing color and enjoyed daily hikes around the property with my dog. I just felt happy being there. I never left the property for the duration of my stay. Thank you White Fence Farm!
My husband and I had our wedding at White Fence Farm last fall and believe it is one of the most special places we’ve ever visited. The property is stunningly beautiful and offers one of the loveliest and most unique wedding venues in the High Country. Our guests were amazed as they drove up to the open air barn, which was lit up with thousands of twinkling lights. Our ceremony had been planned for the open field, which is surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas and provides the perfect backdrop for ceremony pictures. However it rained all day and we had to make a last-minute decision to move the ceremony under the tent that was adjacent to the barn. Even though I wanted to cry, it still turned out to be the most amazing location, right in front of the waterfall. All of our guests said it felt more intimate and special because we were all SO close!
We used the covered stage as a dance floor, with a DJ, lots and lots of lights, and a huge disco ball. Some friends donated firewood as a wedding gift and we had a huge bonfire once the rain stopped. We had local friends as well as family from all over the country attending, and they all agreed that our wedding was fantastically fun and raved about the locale.
One of the best features is the quaint and beautifully decorated farmhouse that is on the property. It was a perfect place for the wedding party to prepare and take photos before the ceremony. And we loved being able to walk back to the house after all our guests had left and relive all the memories of our incredible night. We can’t wait to go back to WFF for an anniversary weekend.
A charming turn of the century farmhouse filled with interesting antiques of it’s time. Our children 8 and 3 enjoyed exploring all the items in the house and around the property. They especially liked the stereoscope with the old image photographs. We spent hours lazying around the wood burning stove, playing board games, hiking around the property and exploring the barn and fields. The beds were comfy, linens soft, kitchen ample enough for the creative chef. We dined in almost every night and I enjoyed cooking meals in the rustic kitchen looking out up the valley, thinking of all the people who preceded my tasks since 1880 when the farmhouse was built. Such a magical place. We will be back!
