Reap the benefits of nature travel when you stay at our farmhouse in Trade, TN.

Have you heard of nature travel? Well, it’s a thing. And it’s a pretty great thing, too. Nature travel has some serious benefits, and when you stay in our beautiful, rustic, mountain farmhouse you can soak up all of the benefits of nature travel on over 105 private acres. It’s a truly magical place. Whether you’re trying to take a total hiatus from work, or craving a working retreat, we’ve got you covered. The farm can be great for both. Read on to learn about a few of our favorite benefits of nature travel, and to learn more about staying at our farmhouse in Trade, Tennessee.

Get the creativity boost you’ve been needing.

There’s nothing like time spent in nature to boost your creativity. Numerous studies have been conducted that support the idea that spending time in nature can help remove creative blocks. If you find yourself constantly revising that one small project, and you’re starting to just feel stuck, you may just need to get outside. We recommend going for a brisk walk or hike.

If you’re staying with us at the farmhouse, there are plenty of loops around the property that you can hike to get some fresh air and inspiration. If you’re trying to take a total work hiatus, we suggest taking a day trip and heading for Watauga Lake. There’s a pretty beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail, from Dennis Cove to Watauga Lake, that we recommend. It’s roughly 8 to 9 miles long, and you’ll even get to see a beautiful waterfall.

Take time to reset.

In order for your brain to function at its highest level, you have to take breaks. Taking a break and spending some time in nature can drastically improve your mood. Breathing in the fresh air and soaking up the sunshine will make you feel good. Don’t underestimate the power of sitting on our front porch swing and watching the soft rain or snow fall, either. A calming week (or weekend) spent out on the farm might just be exactly what you need. Build a fire in our wood stove and watch the flames. Soak up the warmth, and curl up on the couch with a good book in hand. Even if you’re planning on working while taking your trip, carve out twenty minute reset sessions every couple of hours. It’ll do you more good than you know.

Encourage mindfulness.

What is mindfulness? Mindfulness can be defined as the quality or state of being aware of something. To me, mindfulness is a lifestyle. It’s not really something that’s easy or hard per say. Rather, it’s something that I’m always striving for. Mindfulness means being present and living in the moment. With my own mindfulness practice, I strive to quiet my mind so that I can better focus on the task at hand. Making time to get outside and just be in nature is an excellent way for me to encourage more mindfulness in my everyday life. Like I said above, nature time really helps reset the mind, and may be exactly what you need to encourage or start your own mindfulness practice.

More than just an event venue…

The farm isn’t just an event venue. I mean it’s a great event venue (I may be a bit biased), but it’s also a great place to simply vacation. A great place to get in touch with nature, to reset, and to boost your creativity. It’s a great place to start your own mindfulness practice. It’s a great place to go to get back to the basics, to ground yourself, to experience nature and all of the healing power of these beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
